Overview

Journal Alpha is a privacy-first trading journal. Your trade data, reviews, and preferences are stored locally in your browser unless you choose to export them or sync a backup to your own Google Drive.

Data we store on your device

When you use the app, the following may be saved in your browser’s local storage:

• Trade entries, accounts, reviews, milestones, and journal settings
• Display name and profile photo (if you set one)
• Theme and sidebar preferences
• Google Drive backup file reference (if you connect Drive)

This data stays on your device and is not sent to Journal Alpha servers—we do not operate a backend database for your journal content.

Google sign-in & Drive backup

If you sign in with Google, we use Google Identity Services to obtain an access token so you can back up and restore your journal JSON file to your Google Drive. We request the minimum scopes needed: Drive file access for app-created backups, plus basic profile information (name, email, photo) to personalize your account in the app.

Google’s handling of your account data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. You can sign out at any time from the top bar, which clears stored OAuth tokens from your browser.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information or trade data.
• We do not use your journal for advertising or profiling.
• We do not upload your trades to our servers.

Third-party services

The app may load fonts from Google Fonts and, if configured, embedded analytics charts from external providers. Those services may receive standard web request data (such as IP address) under their own policies. Google sign-in and Drive sync are optional—you may use the app locally without connecting Google.

Your choices

• Local only: continue without Google sign-in; data remains on this device.
• Export: download your full journal as JSON from Settings.
• Delete: clear site data in your browser, or remove your Drive backup from Settings.

Journal Alpha is a browser-based trading journal and analytics workspace. It helps you record trades, reviews, and performance metrics for your own personal use. Features may change over time as the app evolves.

Not financial advice

Journal Alpha does not provide investment, trading, tax, or legal advice. Charts, metrics, coach insights, and any other content are for informational and educational purposes only. You are solely responsible for your trading decisions and outcomes.

Your responsibilities

• You must provide accurate information you enter into the journal.
• You are responsible for securing your device, browser, and any Google account used for Drive backup.
• You must comply with applicable laws and your broker’s terms when importing or recording trade data.
• You may not attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or misuse the app in ways that harm others or the service.

Data & Google services

Your journal data is stored locally in your browser unless you export it or sync a backup to your own Google Drive. Optional Google sign-in is subject to Google’s terms and policies. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle data.

Intellectual property

The app’s design, branding, and software are owned by Journal Alpha or its licensors. You retain ownership of the trade records and content you create. You grant us no license to your journal content beyond what is needed to operate features you choose to use (such as local storage or your Drive backup).

Disclaimers

The app is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of calculations, or uninterrupted availability. We do not guarantee that imports, backups, or third-party integrations will always work without error.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Journal Alpha and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or trading losses arising from your use of the app.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after the “Last updated” date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
